Marit Vernae (Omtvedt) Ziadi, age 46 of Belview, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2 at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday AT THE CHURCH, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment is in the Belview Cemetery. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home – Stephens Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marit Vernae (Omtvedt) Ziadi was born May 15, 1970 to Rolf and Janice Omtvedt in Redwood Falls. She was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview. Marit graduated from Belview High School in 1988. She then received her AS degree in accounting in Granite Falls. Marit worked for over 20 years for Aetna Health Partners, eventually being able to work from home. In 2004, Marit took a trip to Morocco to meet the love of her life, Khalid Ziadi. Khalid arrived in the U.S. in December 2004. On January 29, 2005, Marit and Khalid were united in marriage at the Odeon Hall in Belview. They resided in the Twin Cities until 2013, when they moved to Redwood Falls to be closer to her mom. In October 2016, Marit and Khalid fulfilled their dream of owning a home in Belview.
Marit is survived by her husband of 12 years Khalid; mother Janice Omtvedt of Belview; siblings: Todd Omtvedt of Alexandria, Tammy (Dean) Parrott of Dell Rapids, SD, Ingrid (Mark) Bavier of Zimmerman, and Heidi (Brad) Galstad of Alexandria; special “sister” Jesse (Terry) Bernard of New Mexico; her bird Morusa; her Moroccan family; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Rolf Omtvedt.
So very sorry to hear about Marit. I remember her as a student when Bryon was in school in Belview. Our condolences to you all.

My prayers and condolences to Khalid and both families at this difficult time. Marit was my teammate at Aetna in pharmacy eligibility. I will miss her expertise and guidance whenever it was needed. I could always count on her. We became good friends in a short period of time. May you rest in peace my friend, I will miss you.
