Mary Lou Hildebrandt age 78 of Redwood Falls passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Monday, January 6, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 10 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Visitation is 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial is in Redwood Falls Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Lou (Alcox) Hildebrandt was born May 1, 1935 in Willmar, MN to Glen and Annie (Moncur) Alcox. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Mary Lou attended school in Magnolia and Olivia, MN. On January 31, 1953 she married Rodney H. Hildebrandt in Olivia. Together the couple lived and worked in the Olivia area for 11 years before moving to the Redwood Falls area in 1963. Mary Lou returned to school and received her teaching degree from Mankato. She worked as a trainer at Control Data/Zytec for many years. Mary Lou was an avid caregiver taking care of her sister Betty. She was a long-time, active member of Gloria Dei Church where she was part of the quilting group. Mary Lou took great pride in making quilts, with special attention to detail personalizing them, for all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Lynx, traveling, and wintering in Yuma, AZ. She loved going to the Concert Series with her special friend, Glenn, and spending time with her family.
Mary Lou is survived by her children: Rodney “Butch”, Doug (Paulette), Jim (Barb), Dan (Deb), Mary (Gene) Luckhardt, all of Redwood Falls, Deb (Greg) Price of Wabasso, and Dawn (Rick) Jansen of Renville; 17 grandchildren: Shannon (Seth) Allen, Stephanie Hildebrandt, Kristi (Jeremy) Bakeberg, Lisa Hildebrandt (fiancé Bob Loftus), Ryan (Pheng) Hildebrandt, Eric (Kristi) Hildebrandt, Kari (Mike) Redman, Jeremy (Renee) Hildebrandt, Amy (Shawn) Stelzer, Sarah Luckhardt, Chad Luckhardt, Mitchell (Katie) Price, Bethany Price, Mistin Price, Brian (Ashley) Jansen, Mark (Jenny) Jansen, Brent Jansen, and Amber Jansen; 20 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Jacob, Madsen, Eva, Summer, Grifyn, Jaylin, Blake, Morgan, Seth, Alexis, Madilynn, Aidan, RyAnne, Ella, Kaydence, Jasen, Jaxon, Jameson, and Danika. She is also survived by her sisters Janet Bratsch of Renville and Vicki (Larry) Mertens of Redwood Falls; sister-in-law Audrey Serbus of Arlington, special friend Glenn Houtkooper of Redwood Falls; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Rodney in 2010, granddaughter Samantha Price in 2003, grandson Jeff Hildebrandt in 2010, brothers John and Rawliegh Alcox, and sister Betty Alcox.

Mary Lou was a woman so full of joy and love. Very time I ran into her no matter where it was, she greeted me with a smile, hug and hello. My dearest thoughts and sympathy goes out to each and everyone of you during this time. May God bless you all.
Our sympathy goes out to the Hildebrandt family. We were neighbors for many years and Mary Lou always brought me her quilts to machine quilt. She was a wonderful person and I will miss her and our quilting conversations. May she rest in peace and may God bless you all.

My sincere condolences to Doug and Dan and all of the Hildebrandt families. You were a part of my life for a very long time as was your dad Rodney. So sorry to hear if the loss of your mother. Hopefully, the prayers and kind thoughts of friends and family will bring you some comfort at this sad time.

We just learned of Mary Lou’s death today. She and Rodney were very special to my husbands parents Allen and Dorothy Hanson. Allen was Rodney’s uncle. Thinking of your family-may Rodney and now Mary Lou rest in peace together. Randy and Andy Hanson
