Mary Prechel age 81 of Lucan, formerly of Walnut Grove, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Sanford Tracy Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Gales Township Cemetery. Mary (Larsen) Prechel was born July 20, 1934 in Sherman Township, Minnesota to Victor and Loretta (Cady) Larsen. She graduated from Wabasso High School in 1953. Mary candled eggs in Redwood Falls and helped on the family farm. On June 3, 1956 she was united in marriage to Norman Prechel. The couple farmed west of Redwood Falls until 1965 when they moved to Walnut Grove. They lived on the Doc Inglis farm and took care of the livestock and crops until 1972, and then moved to Lucan in 2011. Mary enjoyed gardening, vegetables and flowers, cooking, baking, and helping with farming operations.
Mary is survived by her children: Joyce Prechel and Tom (Lieah) Prechel, all of Lucan; step grandchildren: Brandy (Aaron) Deterling of Morton and Whitney Lord (Jared Kleinsmith) of Tabor, SD; step great grandchildren: Todd, Maverick, Griffin, and August; sisters Betty Seha of Owatonna, Esther (Art) Henderson of Redwood Falls, and Jane Hunneld of Onamia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, daughter Loretta, and sisters Amelia, Evelyn, Emma, Christine, Judy, and Marie, and brother Victor.
