Mirrella “Mirt” Jemming age 82 of Wabasso passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Sunwood Good Samaritan in Redwood Falls. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Interment is in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Seaforth. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Mirt Jemming was born November 11, 1931 in West St. Paul, Minnesota to Michael and Margaret (Licha) Rauschnot. She was baptized December 13, 1931 and confirmed May 23, 1943. Mirt attended Sibley School. On September 4, 1954 she was married to Kenneth Rechtzigel. Together they had three children. While living in St. Paul, Mirt ironed clothes and took care of many children. In 1968 the family moved to a farm near Seaforth to start farming. In August 1973 Kenneth passed away in a car accident. Mirt continued to live on the farm and had a huge garden. On August 29, 1992 she married William Jemming at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Seaforth. Later they moved to Glenwood. In 2011 Mirt moved to Wabasso and in February 2014 she moved to Sunwood Good Samaritan. In Mirt’s spare time she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Mirt is survived by her children: Jeff (Karen) Rechtzigel of Carlos, Greg (Fran) Rechtzigel of Carlos, and Deb (Jim) Knott of Wabasso; grandchildren: Jamie, Jake, Jackie, John, Andy, Ginger, Randy, Christa, Sherry, Ken, and Dan, and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Mike (Marilyn) Rauschnot, Lorraine Tyler, Frank (Nancy) Rauschnot, and Evelyn Greer. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Kenneth Rechtzigel and William Jemming, sisters Irene Maso, Ruth Knox, and Margaret Rauschnot, and grandson Ronnie Rechtzigel.
