Betty Morton
Betty Jane Morton age 77 of Westbrook passed away Friday, May 13 at the Sanford Westbrook Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook.
Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Westbrook Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Westbrook Cemetery at a later time. Betty Jane Morton was born August 6, 1933 on the family farm near Westbrook to Daniel and Lydia (Hass) Cohrs. She was baptized and confirmed in what is now Grace Lutheran Church. Betty graduated from Westbrook High School in 1951. After high school she worked at the bank in Westbrook for several years. On February 17, 1954 she was united in marriage to Beryl Morton. To this union three children were born, and they made their home in Westbrook. They also lived in Missouri, Indiana and Arkansas before moving back to Westbrook. Betty had a great sense of humor and was very witty. She was also a very good cook. Betty was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Bethel Bible study. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. Betty was very talented in many arts and crafts, and found her true passion in china painting. She also loved spending time with her family especially her children and grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband Beryl of 57 years; children: David (Pat) of Yankton, SD, Laurie (Lee) Kantonen of Park Rapids, and Nancy (Stephen) Michael of St. Paul; 8 grandchildren: Jacob, Darcy, Micah, Jared and Lydia Kantonen, Danny Paul, and Nicholas and Sidra Michael; sister Janice (Orland) Norstegard, brother Arvin (Sue) Cohrs, and aunt Betty Natterstad all of Westbrook. She is preceded in death by her parents
