Myrtle F. Muenchow
Myrtle F. Muenchow age 99 of Tracy passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Sanford Tracy Medical Center in Tracy.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Tracy Area Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment is in the Tracy City Cemetery. The Tracy Area Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Myrtle F. Muenchow was born January 2, 1911 in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota to Madison and Gertrude (Henrikson) Gibbs. She attended school in Belveiw, MN. After graduation, she went on to “normal training” and taught country school. On May 12, 1933 Myrtle was united in marriage to Albert H. Muenchow. After marriage, Myrtle was a farmwife until the late 1950’s when she started teaching school again at Amiret and Tracy, and she continued her education until she received her teaching degree. Myrtle continued teaching until her retirement. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy, serving as the organist for many years, a Sunday School teacher, and was also active in the Ladies’ Aid. Myrtle enjoyed gardening; especially raising flowers, and she enjoyed playing the organ and piano. She was an avid Twins fan and would listen to nearly every game.
Myrtle is survived by her sons: Marlin (Karyn) Muenchow of Tracy, Marvin Muenchow of McDonough, GA, and Larry (Sue) Muenchow of Tracy; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, and sisters Leona and Evelyn.
