Lucille P. Nordby age 85 of Redwood Falls, passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 8 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.

Visitation will be 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.  Interment is in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.  The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lucille Phyllis (Hanson) Nordby was born September 9, 1925 in rural St. James to William and Pauline (Shellum) Hanson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Albion Lutheran Church near Hanska.  She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School.  On August 31, 1946, Lucille was united in marriage to Marland Nordby in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Together the couple made their home in Butterfield and later Walnut Grove.  In 1959, they moved to Redwood Falls.  Lucille worked for Control Data and waitressed at the Redwood Falls Golf Club until she retired due to health complications.  She continued her role as a homemaker and raising her family.  Lucille entered Wood Dale Nursing Home and later St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield before entering Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in November of 2007.  She was active in church functions, helping with quilting, and was part of a women’s circle.  Lucille was also a member of the Ladies’ Legion Auxiliary.  She loved baking, playing cards, doing Hardanger stitching, crocheting, and quilting.  Lucille enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and especially loved her grandchildren.

Lucille is survived by her children: Roger (Janice) of Venice, FL, Richard (Janean) of Sacred Heart, Michael (Claudia) of Rosemount, Kathy (Al) Hillmer of Redwood Falls, Craig (Jessica) of Delhi, Mark (Mary) of Becker; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings: Edell (George) Carlson of Fountain Valley, CA, Vernon (Thaephia) Hanson of Maplewood, Harold (Bev) Hanson of Hutchinson, Darryl (Lois) Hanson of St. Louis Park, and many other relatives.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marland, grandson Jason Nordby, and sisters Iola Boomgarden and Bernice Todnem.
