Alton Ezra Miller, age 85 of Jackson/ Des Moines Township, formerly of Jeffers, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at home.  Private family services will be held.  Interment will be in the Jeffers Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Sanford Hospice or American Cancer Society. 

Alton Ezra Miller was born January 16, 1936 to Clifford and Mabel (Kyar) Miller at home in Cottonwood County, Minnesota.  He was baptized and confirmed at United Methodist Church.  Alton attended country school four miles from his home.  On August 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Alice Elizabeth Hahn.  Alton was a member of the United Methodist Church.  He was part of the church board and also took part in helping build the church in Jeffers.  Alton was a member of the Jeffers Volunteer Fire Department and also on the Ambulance Squad for over 30 years.  He very active in the community and was elected Mayor of Jeffers for 13.5 years.  Alton belonged to Ruritan, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, and city council.  He worked as a supervisor/ general manager at Toro Manufacturing Company in Windom for 45 years.  Alton enjoyed music and had a band called Ridge Runners, where he played guitar and sang.  To pass the time, he enjoyed gardening, reading, carpentry and casino outings.  Alton could often be found outdoors camping or hunting.  He enjoyed going fishing, boating and skiing.  Alton loved spending time with family and friends.

Alton is survived by his children: Beverly (Richard) Quade of Sanborn, Laurie (Robert) Baumann of Jackson, Susan Miller of Jeffers, and Joey (Melinda) Miller of Jeffers; step-daughter Vicki Galstad-Friedrichs; special family friend Greg Knight; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and siblings: Donald (Patricia) Miller of Florida and Arla Christensen of Crystal. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice Miller, daughter, Debra Lake, granddaughter, Brooke Sutherland, brothers, Kenny, Glen and Lee, and sister, Berniece Christensen.
