Arlene D. (Wahl) Sahlstrand, age 87 of Westbrook, MN, formerly of Yucca Valley, CA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Rose Hill Township. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Arlene Dorothy (Wahl) Sahlstrand was born to Reinie and Bertha (Mischke) Wahl on November 20, 1936 in Dovray Township, Murray County. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rose Hill Township. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1954 and from Cosmetology School in Minneapolis in 1956. On March 14, 1959, Arlene was united in marriage to Don Sahlstrand. They lived in Minneapolis until 1961, when she and Don moved to CA. They spent a lot of time in Baja, Mexico where they had a second home. They had adventurous spirits, taking ocean cruises and travelling to Australia, Alaska, and the Panama Canal among other places. Arlene and Don had their own airplanes and could travel whenever they chose. Arlene experienced health issues in 2020 and they relocated to Yucca Valley, CA. When Don passed in 2021, Arlene desired to be near family and came back to MN. She moved into Good Samaritan Society – Westbrook where family would come to visit. Arlene spent leisure time reading, watching Golden Girls on tv, and doing stained glass art.

Arlene is survived by her siblings: Larry (Patty) Wahl and Marcella (Robert) Chapman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, and brothers: Willis, Vernal, Orvis, Leland, Merrill and Marvin.
