Blanche Corrine (Haug) Anderson was born January 12, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where her mother, Johanna (Fredrickson) Haug had received her registered nurses training. Blanche’s father was Harold Alfred Haug of South Sacred Heart. Blanche was the oldest of four children and was baptized, confirmed and married at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. She attended District #14 country school and graduated with honors from the Sacred Heart High School in 1945. Blanche was awarded a scholarship and attended Business College in Minneapolis. She was employed as an executive secretary at First National Bank, Minneapolis until her marriage to Leroy M. Anderson on August 26, 1950. The couple resided on the home farm east of Belview, until October 1981, when Leroy moved to Parkview Nursing Home and Blanche relocated to Redwood Falls. Leroy passed away October 12, 1982 after a lengthy illness. In January 1980, they began wintering in Mesa, AZ and Blanche enjoyed maintaining homes there until 2016. She especially enjoyed all the friendships that developed and continued through the years. In her youth Blanche participated in 4-H, studied piano and was creative as a seamstress and later as a homemaker. She was an active member of PTA, Sententia Study Club and the Extension Club. At Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls she belonged to Circle, taught Sunday School, sang in choir and was on the wedding committee for many years. In memory of her husband she started the Bell Choir, which has grown and been enjoyed for many years. Blanche had the pleasure and opportunity to travel world wide. She had captured those experiences through photography and loved the adventure. At age 50 she took up golf and found it to be wonderful therapy during her husband’s illness and death. She perfected her game to win several tournaments. As her physical health deteriorated she concentrated on bridge and physical fitness exercises. While Blanche lived and volunteered at View Point Golf Resort in Mesa, AZ she enjoyed booking large groups for theatrical productions, one of her special interests. Her family and friends were very special and dear to her and she always had words of encouragement for everyone.
Blanche is survived by her children: Lori (Dave) Kascht of Bozeman, MT and David (Kathy) Anderson of Redwood Falls, previously of Belview; grandsons: Eric (Amanda) Anderson of Belview and their children: Colton, Grace & Austin and Michael (Brooke) Anderson of Blaine and their children: Aubrey & Emmett; one brother Harold Haug of Sacred Heart; nieces and nephews: Susan (Jim) Veeder, John (Kim) Haug, Robert (Kari) Haug, Scott (Lisa) Habben, Brett (Robin) Habben, Matt (Heidi) Habben and Kentt (Emily) Habben and all of their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters: Janet Haug (1948) and Barbara (Haug) Habben, and sister-in-law Lorraine Haug. Blessed be her memory.
