Clair Edward Fischer, age 97 of Morgan, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to an organization of the donor’s choice are preferred in lieu of flowers; or consider volunteering in service of others. Stephens Funeral Service –Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Clair Edward Fischer was born August 4, 1926 on the family farm in Sherman Township, near Morgan, Minnesota, to Albert and Ursula (Braunger) Fischer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan and also attended St. Michael’s Catholic School before graduating from Morgan High School in 1944. Clair enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and served as a Military Police with the 720th Company B until receiving his honorable discharge in 1948. On April 21, 1954, Clair was united in marriage to Gwenn Huschke at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan. Clair was active in his community as a member of the Sherman-Bohn VFW, Knights of Columbus, Redwood County ASCS, Sherman Township Board, and St. Michael’s School Board. He also volunteered his time in many ways. Clair loved the farm which was reflected in his stewardship and conservation practices. Clair and Gwenn enjoyed traveling together.

Clair is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Gwenn (Huschke) Fischer; daughters: Leslie, Andrea, Mary, Heidi, and Suzanne and their spouses; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom Clair loved spending time. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ursula (Braunger) Fischer, brothers: Urban & Ralph Fischer, and sisters: Ruth Doherty and Alice Steffl.
