David Victor Hoffbeck was born April 11, 1955 to Floyd and Joyce (Sather) Hoffbeck in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized at Central Lutheran Church near Franklin and confirmed at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Dave attended country school near Redwood Falls until it closed, and later attended Redwood Falls High School where he enjoyed playing tuba in the band. He graduated in 1974. Dave enjoyed growing up on the farm south of Redwood, where he spent many hours outside – building forts in the grove, go-carting, and fishing in the creek. Dave worked hard on the farm, bailing hay, and walking beans. He also worked for Del-Monte in Sleepy Eye. He was a member of Paxton Patriots 4H Club and qualified for many trips to the Minnesota State Fair. Dave loved spending time with Grandpa Art and Grandma Gladys at their Franklin farm. Every year he enjoyed spending time with his cousins and decorating Christmas sugar cookies. Following graduation, Dave continued his education at Southwest State University in Marshall and later Willmar Area Vocational Technical Institute for his auto body repair degree. He owned and operated an auto body shop – first in Wabasso, then Franklin, Bird Island, and lastly in Willmar. Dave loved classic cars and owned many over the years, but he especially loved his blue 1970 Barracuda. Dave was a past member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He was an excellent card player and enjoyed playing boardgames. He also enjoyed playing softball, horseshoes and going fishing. Dave loved gifting stuffed animals to his nephew and two nieces.
David is survived by his father Floyd Hoffbeck of Redwood Falls; siblings: Bonnie (Dan) Buysse of Redwood Falls and Corwin (Denise) Hoffbeck of New London; nieces & nephew: Dane (Alicia) Buysse of Mandan, ND, Megan (Jake) Wickstrom of Victoria, Evan Buysse of Edina; great nieces and nephews: Indiana & Leo Buysse and Brayden & Emory Wickstrom; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Joyce, grandparents, Art & Gladys Sather and George & Ella Hoffbeck, and other relatives.
