David John Kimpling, age 60 of Olivia formerly of Ellsworth, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in Olivia. Memorial Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2024 at Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Redwood Valley Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Strombeck Cemetery in Montevideo. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
David John Kimpling was born August 6, 1964 to Galen D. and Marlene A. (Peterson) Kimpling in Montevideo, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew up on a farm near Maynard. There David learned his great work ethic and graduated from Maynard High School in 1983. His desire to explore led him to a career in the trucking industry. On August 7, 2008, David was united in marriage to Brenda (Polzin) Kimpling in Brookings, South Dakota. David gained his lifelong friends at a young age. He was crazy about the outdoors. David loved going fishing and hunting, especially for coon and deer. He had a knack for woodworking, telling jokes and talking smack. David was known by many and could strike up a conversation with anyone he came across. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandkids.
David is survived by his wife Brenda (Polzin) Kimpling; children: Charles (Jessica) Fulton of Sleepy Eye, Kristen (Chris) Edmonds of Estelline, SD and Meghan (Josh) Orness of Blaine; grandchildren: Deklyn & Samuel Fulton, Talon, Felicity, Brayden & Jaxson Edmonds and Nevaeh, Elyssa & Olivia Peoples; siblings: Delbert (Corinne) Kimpling of Maynard, Dean (Cathy) Kimpling of Arlington, SD, Darlene Kimpling of Sioux Falls, SD, Debra (Gary) Johnson of Maplewood and DeVonna (Tom) Zeug of Lucan; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter Jennifer (Fulton) Peoples.
