Dorothy Forbregd, age 97 of Tracy formerly of Dell Rapids, SD, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall after an extended battle with dementia.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2021 at Tracy Area Funeral Home with a livestream on Stephens Funeral Service Facebook page.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, guests will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. A 50% indoor occupancy restriction will be maintained. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy was born February 9, 1924 to Erich and Lulu (Adams) Goertz in Luverne, Minnesota.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Dorothy graduated from Dell Rapids High School.  On October 17, 1945, Dorothy married the love of her life James H. Forbregd in Dell Rapids.  Together the couple lived in Dell Rapids, Tyler, Milroy, California, and lastly moved to Tracy in 1947.  There is where Dorothy has resided since.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years and Tracy Lutheran Circle and ladies aid. Dorothy loved collecting dolls and doll chairs.  You could often find her enjoying a good book or listening to her favorite music.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters: Betty Peterson of Stanwood, WA, Roberta (Darold) Noyes of Rosemount, Rita Forbregd of Fargo, ND, and Norine Hanson of Tracy; 5 grandchildren: Michael, Becky, Jenni, Andrew, and Kami; 9 great grandchildren: Cameron, Easton, Sydney, Mary, Abby, Oliver, Lucy, Miriam, and Aaron; brother Roger Goertz of Florida; sister-in-law Doris Totten of California; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James Forbregd, siblings: Viola, Elsie, Mabel, and Albert, brother-in-law Don Forbregd, and sisters-in-law: Myrtle Flesner and Evie Eikeland.
