Janice Irene Garrett, age 92 of Springfield, MN formerly of Redwood Falls, MN, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Nursing Home in Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Interment will be in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Janice “Jan” Irene (Ecklund) Garrett was born November 25, 1929 to Harold and Effie (Elken) Ecklund in Flora, North Dakota. She was baptized December 8, 1929 and attended school in New Rockford, North Dakota. On August 24, 1947, Jan was united in marriage to the love of her life, Lyle Henry Garrett, in New Rockford. After the wedding, the couple resided in Carrington, ND until 1968, when they moved to Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Jan was a florist at Blossom Town for many years, until her retirement. Jan was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Redwood Falls and Springfield. To pass the time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, crafts, gardening and golfing. Above all else, family was most important to Jan. She loved life greatly, but she loved her family more. Jan will be deeply missed.
Janice is survived by her children: Tom (Sanet) Garrett, Jerry (Linda) Garrett, Patti (Dan) Fiedler, Peggy (Don) Marron, Penny Garrett and Pam (Mike) Lobejko; grandchildren: Xavier (Ali) Holzhausen, Charisma (Larry) Allen, Christopher (Destiny) Garrett, Nate Garrett, Jamie (Blake) Reoh, Michael (Tasha) Fiedler, Jason (Marie) Fiedler, Kelly (Jason) Fenger, Brittny (Nathan) Lee, Ash Lobejko and Dani (Luke) Gossen; many great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister Marlys Rhode; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyle and sister Adeline Ystaas.
