Janice Lila Norstegard age 82 of Westbrook passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 peacefully at her home while surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Interment will be held at a later date at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Dovray. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Janice was born July 27, 1938 in Rosehill Township to Daniel & Lydia (Hass) Cohrs. She was baptized September 18, 1938 and confirmed April 6, 1952 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rosehill Township. Janice graduated from Tracy High School June 1, 1956. On April 11, 1959, Janice was united in marriage to Orland Norstegard at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. To this union, four children were born. Janice was a stay at home wife and mom prior to going to work at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center in Westbrook for over 40 years. Janice always had the coffee pot on and a treat for family, friends and neighbors who stopped to visit. Janice enjoyed puzzles, crosswords and crocheting, but she always left time for her fur baby Izzy. Time spent with her family gave her the most joy. “Granma J” was her grandkids’ biggest cheerleader.
Survivors include daughters Jody Norstegard of Willmar & Brenda Engen of Westbrook, sons Tom (fiancé Amy) of Morgan & Mike (friend Karen) of Randall; granddaughters Tiffany Wahl & Rachel Stevens (fiancé Brian); great grandchildren: Gracie & Emma Wahl and Lexi & Hunter Haken; and the others who have come to know and love her as “Granma J”. She is also survived by her brother Arvin (Sue) Cohrs of Westbrook, brother-in-law Beryl Morton of Windom and a host of other family and friends. Janice is preceded in death by her husband Orland, parents Dan & Lydia, sister Betty, son-in-law Denis, and many other relatives and close friends.
