It was a year ago today that I had to say goodbye to you. Not a day has gone by that I don’t think of you and miss you so much. You were the best mom, grandma and great grandma as well as my best friend. I will forever remember you as the sweetest, kindest and most caring person I know. I’m so thankful and blessed to have had you all these years and will always cherish all the beautiful memories we created. Love you always, your daughter Vicki

Jean Halter was the last remaining granddaughter of Charles Pooch, who served for the entire Civil War in the famous Iron Brigade of the Union Army of the Potomac. He saw front-line duty at the Battles of South Mountain, Antietam, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Petersburg, up to the surrender of Confederate General Lee at Appomattox in 1865. He homesteaded in Germantown and raised the large family we are a part of. I enjoyed the frequent telephone talks I had with Jean during the last few years, who filled in lots of things that I had never known about our families. I know she would be pleased if we continue to remember the legacy of our grandfather, Charles.

Sympathy to the family of Jean Halter. She was always such a friendly and well dressed lady. We'd see her at Jackpot on occasion. We pray for God's peace, strength and comfort as you mourn for your mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Blessed be her memory! John and Diane Woodford
