LaVonne Roberta (Soll) Hanson, age 91 of Westbrook, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 at Hospice of Murray County in Slayton. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 20 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Westbrook Cemetery.
Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials to Murray County Hospice or the Veterans Memorial in Westbrook Park are preferred.
LaVonne Roberta (Soll) Hanson was born July 17, 1931 to Alma Cecelia (Kleven) Soll and Willie Albert Soll in Ann Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in Ann Township. LaVonne was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran Church rural Walnut Grove and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. She attended rural school Districts 42 and 43, elementary and high school in Westbrook and graduated from Worthington High School in 1949. After graduation, LaVonne worked at the Montgomery Ward Store in Worthington. LaVonne and Dale L. Hanson of Westbrook were married on March 27, 1952 at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. They purchased the Hanson homestead in rural Westbrook where they farmed until 1989 when Dale retired. LaVonne worked for a number of years at the Westbrook V-Store. After Dale’s death in 2004, she continued to live on the family farm until last July. LaVonne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook where she was active in the quilting group and altar guild. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary and Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, quilting, bird watching and reading.
LaVonne is survived by Dale’s siblings: Wydon, Twyla, Sonja, Clair and Karen; many nieces and nephews; great, great great and great great great nieces and nephews; and godchildren: Rosalyn Wahl, Victoria Lanoue, Al Leiferman, Steven Soll and Roxanne Saxhaug. She is preceded in death by her parents Alma and Bill; her husband Dale in 2004; her siblings: Alice Sell, Oran, Fritz, Norris and LaVerne Soll.
