Letha May Missling, age 99 of Westbrook formerly of Windom, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 with her family by her side at Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Interment will be in the Jeffers Cemetery.

Letha May (Roos) Missling was born May 3, 1923 to Frank and Louise (LaMoreaux) Roos in Leeds, Iowa. She received her education in Jeffers and later married Lawrence Missling on February 4, 1941. To this union five children were born. Letha farmed right alongside her husband until they retired in 1982. They would spend their winters in Corpus Christi, Texas with their daughter, Alice, and son-in-law, Keith. After Lawrence passed in 1999, she continued to reside in Texas during the winter. It was there where she enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society, as she loved spending time with her friends and showcasing one of her many hats. In 2015, Letha moved off the farm and into an apartment in Jeffers. Then in 2018 she moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook. Letha was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers and was involved with the garden club and ladies aid. She was honored for over 50 years in the garden club and for making over 100 lap afghans for the veterans. Letha was well known for her angel food cakes, sewing, and crocheting afghans and baby blankets for friends and family. In her spare time she enjoyed reading a few Harlequin romance novels. She also enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, and bingo. The family would like to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook for their care for Letha over the last four years.

Letha is survived by her children: Cosette Fester of Sioux Falls, SD, Alice (Keith) Fuhrman of Corpus Christi, TX, Rod (Vicky) Missling of Windom, Jim (Linda) Missling, and Tami (Rusti) Stoever both of Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Marge Roos Schwartz; many nieces and nephews; and all of those she loved and touched deeply. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank & Louise, husband Lawrence, two brothers Frankie & Eldred, and son-in-law Will Fester.
