Lois was born on May 1, 1926 in Westbrook and died at her home in New Haven, Connecticut on June 11, 2022. Lois was the daughter of Anna (Steinhoff) and Henry Boeck of Westbrook. Following graduation from Westbrook High School, she moved to Minneapolis, where she met her future husband, Tully Acampora, an Army officer stationed at Fort Snelling. Tully’s military and State Department career spanned the next forty years. The family lived in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The most beloved family years were spent in Rome, Italy. A devoted equestrian, Lois won awards in international horse jumping competitions. She found time between foreign assignments to train as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Lois made her home beautiful and welcoming to all. She loved the outdoors and was an avid bird watcher. Lois was always proud of her Minnesota roots. She is survived by her three children: Denise, along with her partner Richard Marottoli; Tony and his wife Katherine Meade Acampora; Gregory and his partner Janet Osterman. Lois is the proud grandmother of Anthony Everard Acampora, and Alison Meade Acampora (m. Alessandro Fazio). She is the sister of James Boeck of New Ulm and the late Avis and Delmar Boeck.
