Lon “Lonnie” Alan Halvorson, age 67 of Redwood Falls, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at his home of natural causes. Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life to follow the visitation at the American Legion. Stephens Funeral Service -Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lon “Lonnie” Alan Halvorson was born May 17, 1956 to Leonard and Rita (Armagost) Halvorson in Lamberton, Minnesota. He attended Sleepy Eye schools and at the age of 18 he began trucking for many years. Lonnie lived in various towns in southwest Minnesota for a number of years, before settling in Redwood Falls in 2019. On February 19, 2014, Lonnie married Lorna Sansob in Lapu-Lapu, Philippines. Lonnie enjoyed doing truck pulls, watching TV and listening to music. You could often find Lonnie hunting, fishing or taking a drive around the countryside. When he was home from trucking, he loved visiting with friends. Lonnie loved spending time with his family, especially the kids.
Lon is survived by his wife Lorna Halvorson of 10 years; children: Shannon Merringer of Tracy, Angel (Brian) Weber of Sanborn, Rachael (Kyle) Slater of Coon Rapids, Travis (Brianna) Halvorson of Bemidji and Emelita Halvorson of Redwood Falls; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings: Larry (Denise) of Redwood Falls, Mike (Jean) of Sanborn, Nancy (special friend Dale) Halvorson of Lamberton, Jim (Becky) of Owatonna, and Tom of Jeffers; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and sister-in-law Denise.
