What fun memories of Lucille from my time teaching at Franklin. We shared lots of good conversation. And I still am using the sewing machine she recommended .... bought it in Olivia in 1974 and it has done "tons" of sewing! I found out about her passing because my daughter works at North Oaks and she told me someone that I knew that I had taught with from Redwood Falls had passed away. May she rest in peace.

What a legendary lady! Mrs. Byram was one of those teachers I had that I tried to model after as a teacher. I loved her fun-loving, creative and caring spirit! The last time I visited with her was at the FRANKLIN Class of ‘81 reunion a few years back. I still think of her when I serve a meal that is plated in lots of colors! She’d say who wouldn’t want to stuff that is just white or yellow😉

In the late 70’s, I was teaching at Franklin 3 afternoons a week. Lucille often caught a ride home to Redwood Falls with me if her morning ride was staying late at school. I enjoyed getting to know her on those rides and really came to appreciate the beautiful person that she was. My sympathy to her family that she spoke so lovingly of.

I was one of those many students from Franklin that made a down vest in Home Ec. Mrs. Byram certainly taught us how to make things that last as that down vest is still in my closet. Both of my boys wore it while growing up and I am sure my grandson will find a way to use it as well. I graduated 43 years ago but probably made the vest while in 8th or 9th grade. Attached is a picture of the vest!! Made in Franklin USA Well done Mrs. Byram!
