Lyle Vernon Swenson was born June 24, 1941 in Heron Lake, MN to Lillian (Larson) and Neal Octor Swenson, Sr. He was baptized and confirmed at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. Lyle attended and graduated from Storden High School with the Class of 1959. He went on to attend the Minnesota School of Business. Lyle first married Carolyn Brekke and they were blessed with two children: Pam and Joy. He married Lucille (Senger) on July 24, 1975 in St. Paul and they were blessed with two children: Michael and Stephanie. Lyle worked in Minneapolis for Nash Finch Company as an auditor. He moved to Storden in 1976 to become part owner and manager of Storden Seed and Chemical. He later helped found Gold Country Seed and purchased the business from his seed partners. He later sold his shares of Gold Country Seeds. Lyle served on many boards including: Minnesota Crop Improvement, Gold Country Seed, Storden City Council, Storden Commercial Club, and Bethany Lutheran Church Council (as treasurer and financial secretary) and Bethany Cemetery Association. Lyle was on the Storden Fire Department for 25 years. In 1995, Lyle was named Minnesota Premier Seedsman by Minnesota Crop Improvement. He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting pheasants and duck with his son Mike. He was also a firearm safety instructor, sharing his love for the outdoors with the younger generations. Lyle and Lucy enjoyed spending time with friends in the Storden area as well as Texas over the last 10 years. They are grateful for the friendships they have had over the years. Lyle was proud to have donated over 12 gallons of blood to the Red Cross over his lifetime. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids and was quite the baby whisperer. Lyle could pull a giggle out of them anytime.

Lyle is survived by his wife Lucy; children: Michael (Stephanie) Swenson, Stephanie (Daniel) Wilde, Pamela Cantu and Joy Standefer; grandchildren: Dawson (Kayla) Iverson, River & Rose Swenson, Lillian & Graham Wilde, Addison Bohnsack, Shane Babcock, and Clara & Sylvie Standefer; great-grandchildren: Toby & Eden Iverson; siblings: Lucille (Kenneth) Peterson, Robert (Sonja) Swenson & Myron (special friend Jan Wohlk) Swenson; & sister-in-law Ardelle Swenson. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Neal Swenson Jr. & Carolyn Nelson, and siblings-in-law Donna Swenson, Vance Nelson, Delores Hoisington & Michael Senger.
