Marcella “Sally” (Zimmermann) Petsinger, age 94 of Redwood Falls, formerly of Morton, gained her angel wings on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at her home. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Morton. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sally was born November 25, 1928 to Victor and Florence Zimmermann on a farm near Morgan. She was baptized in the minister’s house of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan and confirmed at that same location on March 29, 1942. She attended country school, Morgan and Morton high schools, and graduated from Morgan in 1947. Sally married Harry Frank Petsinger on June 11, 1947 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. They lived in Redwood Falls, Lucan, Minneapolis, and then settled in Morton. Harry passed away in May 1981. Through the years Sally worked at the telephone office, Tom’s Bake Shop, Robert’s Bakery and Morton Grocery Store. In 2003, she moved to Homestead Cooperative in Redwood Falls. Sally was a talented seamstress. Her hobbies included knitting, needle point, reading books and assembling many puzzles. She was an excellent cook as well. Sally loved to attend family holidays, birthdays and celebrations. She was a 50+ year breast cancer survivor and faithfully attended the Redwood County Relay for Life. Sally was lovingly known to everyone by her nickname “Grandma Sally”.

Sally is survived by her children: Nancy (Ron) Plaetz, Howard (Barb) Petsinger, and Steve (Dawn) Petsinger; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry, parents Victor and Florence, brother LeRoy (Jake), and sister Dolores Springer.
