Otto Charles Gimmestad, age 85 of Belview, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.  Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview.  Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church.  Interment will be at a later date.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Otto Charles Gimmestad was born December 14, 1935 to Otto and Henrietta (Colston) Gimmestad in Swedes Forest Township on the family farm.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.  Otto attended country school in Swedes Forest Township and later graduated from Belview High School in 1953.  He continued his education at Dunwoody Institute and graduated with a degree in mechanics.  After graduating college, Otto enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1957-1959 in France.  After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to the Belview area to help operate the family farm.  On July 14, 1962, Otto married Donna Pedersen in Belview.  Together the couple continued living and farming in the area.  Otto served on the Belview school board and Grace Lutheran Church council.  He enjoyed traveling to Florida and Arizona during the winter and especially overseas to Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Sweden.  To pass the time, he enjoyed bowling, camping and fishing.  He especially enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s events.

Otto is survived by his wife Donna of 58 years; children: William (Paula) Gimmestad of Marshall, John Gimmestad of Belview (special friend Shannon Haney), Paul Gimmestad of Belview, and Kathy (Jon) Gross of Rochester; grandchildren: Danielle (Ray) Landberg, Tyler Gimmestad, and Anna & Rachel Gross; great grandchildren: Reese, William, and Andrew Landberg; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Delores Barnes & Lorraine Clyne.
