Ronald Victor Schilling, age 77 of Marshall, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Avera Hospital in Marshall after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church with a Prayer Service at 6:30. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall on Saturday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Edward Catholic School in Minneota or Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Marshall. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ron was born January 14, 1947 in Marshall to Victor and Mary (Coens) Schilling. He attended Catholic School in Marshall and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1965. He later graduated from Southwest Minnesota State College with a degree in Business Administration. On May 4, 1968, Ron was united in marriage to Donna Marie Hauger at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. The couple lived in Marshall until 1973 when they moved to Blue Earth where Ron continued his banking career. In 1980, Ron and Donna moved to Redwood Falls where they operated various retail stores. Ron served on The Redwood Falls City Council for many years. They returned to Marshall in 1993 where Ron continued to grow his love for all things real estate. Ron’s main purpose in life was to support his family; in the Real Estate profession, he was able to help many families along the way. He loved re-modeling old houses and was always looking ahead and working on the next project. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his great-grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his children: Jaci (Joe) Garvey & Jose Rodriguez Schilling, both of Marshall; grandchildren: Tresia (Blake) Windey, Joseph N. (Sara) Garvey, Samuel (Diana) Garvey & Elizabeth Garvey; great-grandchildren: Grace, Hope & Joseph T. Garvey, Aloysius & Kristopher Garvey, and Phoebe & Alphonse Windey; brother Maris (Barb) Schilling of Andover; special friend Elaine Koch; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna & infant sister Jacqueline.
