She grew up on a farm near Kimball Corner with her two sisters and two brothers. She attended Trimont Public School. After graduating from high school, Syd attended cosmetology school in Rochester, MN. On August 7, 1970, Syd married Carl A. Jass, and made their home in Windom. She was blessed with four daughters (Jolene, Donna, Robin & Kristal) from Carl’s previous marriage, and two sons (Vincent & Michael) with Carl. This marriage was later dissolved. On November 11, 1995, Syd married David Rupp at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Together they continued residing in Windom. Through this marriage, Syd was delighted to gain three more children (Jason, Lisa & Nicole). Syd worked as a beautician for 52 years in Windom. She cherished the friendships and conversations she had with her clients over the years. Syd enjoyed sewing, waterskiing, teaching Sunday School and cooking for her big family. With Dave, she loved watching television shows and talking in the car on their many car rides. In 2020, Syd was diagnosed with breast cancer. When the cancer metastasized in 2022, she ended her career as a beautician. While she missed her occupation, she really enjoyed the extra time with her family, friends, and church members. She was a member of Christ Victory Lutheran Church of Redwood Falls, while also attending Word of Life Lutheran Church of MN Valley in Belview where Dave serves as Pastor for both churches. Syd loved being a Pastor’s wife. Syd will be remembered for her positive, uplifting attitude, incredible work ethic and resounding faith.
