Ted J. Haugen, age 78 of Lake Shetek, formerly of Marshall, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Murray County Medical Center in Slayton. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2024 at Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8 at Tracy Area Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery near Lake Shetek.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ted J. Haugen was born on May 29, 1946 to Theodore and Bertha (Olson) Haugen in Minot, ND. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Ted attended grade school in Minot and then moved to Delta Junction, AK. He graduated from Ft. Greely High School in 1964. On January 29, 1971 Ted married Sharon Wirtjes in Anchorage. He worked in the power plant in Ft. Greely until they moved to Marshall, MN in 1973. Ted was self-employed as a petroleum jobber. He owned several service stations and supplied petroleum to Tri-State Petroleum in MN, ND and SD as well as many others. Ted retired in 2008. He and Sharon made their home on Lake Shetek.

Ted is survived by his wife of 53 years Sharon; children: Theodore James of Seattle, WA, Bryan (Sarah) of Sioux Falls, SD, Jeremey of Battle Creek, MI, and Nicki (Gary) Irwin of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Jordyn; Synjin (Paige), Toby (Malerie), and Ella; Megan and Marissa; and Kyle (Michal); great-grandchildren: Oliver, Judah and Lindon; sister: Clarice Littrell of Post Falls, ID; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mark and Bobby Haugen and nephew Jim Morgan.
