Paul L. Philipp age 80 of Tyler passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 at the Tyler Area Funeral Home. The Tyler Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Paul Lutz Philipp was born May 20, 1933 to Leon and Anne (Lutz) Philipp in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended Mrs. Frasier’s Day School in Minneapolis before he was admitted to Faribault in 1941. He lived there until 1981 when he moved to Tyler and became a resident of REM Southwest Services. Paul was employed by Hope DAC where he enjoyed shredding paper and making cards. He loved cars and trucks and knew every make and model. Paul enjoyed his stuffed animals, going out to eat, attending camp, and watching movies and television. He was known by everyone in town. Paul’s father Leon worked all his life at M.A. Gedney pickle company in Minneapolis, and ended his career as Treasurer. Paul is the nephew of Josephine Lutz Rollins who was a well known Minnesota watercolorist and professor of art at the University of Minnesota.
Paul is survived by his sister Judith Meyers of Greeley, CO; niece and nephew Liza Meyers of Denver, CO, and Bradley Meyers of San Diego, CA; cousin Janice Roeser Anderson of Minneapolis; and all of his friends at REM Southwest Services and Hope DAC. He is preceded in death by his parents.
