Marjorie “Marge” Ritchie age 80 of Faribault and formerly of Tyler passed away surrounded by her loving family at St. Lucas Care Center on March 19, 2011.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 24 at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler.  Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Tyler Area Funeral Home with a 5:30 p.m. prayer service.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tyler Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements

Marge was born July 6, 1930 on a farm near Hadley, MN to Arie and Lenora (Holm) VanKlei. A few years later the family moved to Rushmore, MN where she lived her life until moving to Tyler in 1978.

Marge was united in marriage to Fred Ritchie on April 02, 1949.  This union was blessed with 3 children: Marilyn, Diane “Dee” and Verlin.  Marge was a member of the Rushmore Legion Auxiliary, St. John’s Lutheran Church and Rushmore Booster Club.  Marge was active in the church serving as a Sunday school teacher, Tuesday school teacher and church treasurer for many years.  Marge enjoyed entertaining, gardening, camping and spending time with her family and friends.

Marjorie Ritchie passed away at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 13 days.

Marjorie is survived by three children:  Marilyn (Mike) Alexander of Faribault, MN, Diane “Dee” (Larry) Olson of Faribault, MN, Verlin Ritchie of Sioux Falls, SD, seven grandchildren, Amy (Chad) Schak, Chandra Steinhaus, Sara (Brock) Dressen, Nikki (Mike) Wardell, Heather (Chris) Kusske, Brett Ritchie and Erica Ritchie; 15 great grandchildren,  2 Great Great Grandchildren, 3 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Vera Wick of Rushmore, Rete Brunk of Rushmore, Joyce & Herb Roettger of Stillwater and several nieces, nephews and aunts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one great grandson.
