He was baptized at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Bob graduated from Redwood Falls High School, and in 1969 he enlisted in the US Army. He served his country in Vietnam with the 131st Engineer Battalion where he was a heavy equipment operator. Bob received his honorable discharge in 1970. After returning to the states, he was stationed in Alabama where he met his wife, Linda Allen. They were married September 3, 1971 in Alabama. Together the couple moved to Milford, Illinois where Bob worked for Crow’s Hybrid Seed Corn. In 1975, Bob and Linda moved back to Alabama and Bob drove truck over-the-road. He continued his education at MacArthur Tech in Opp, Alabama and worked evenings at Dorsey Trailers as an industrial painter. In 1979, the couple moved to Minnesota and Bob worked at Zytec until he retired in 1995. Bob served his country for a second term with the National Guard after moving back to Redwood Falls. Bob was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion in Redwood Falls, serving as Commander and several other positions of the VFW for many years. He belonged to the Voice of Democracy and was the 3rd District Officer. He loved his horses, being outdoors, and driving around the countryside.
