Evelyn Rudebusch
Evelyn Rudebusch…90 of Luverne (formerly of Lake Benton) passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Luverne, Minnesota.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Private family burial will be held at Memorial Hill Cemetery in Lake Benton.
The Tyler Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Evelyn Gertrude Rudebusch was born August 22, 1920 in Verdi, Minnesota to William and Mary (Grubich) Prosch. She attended school in Verdi and graduated from Lake Benton Public School in 1938. She then attended Mankato Teacher’s College. Evelyn served in the United States Women’s Marine Corps from 1942 – 1945. She was stationed in Ft Myers, VA. Following her discharge from the Marines, she taught school in Springfield, MN. Evelyn was united in marriage to Gerhard Rudebusch on June 3, 1948 in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Together the couple moved to the Lake Benton area where they lived and farmed. Evelyn returned to college in Marshall, for further education. She began to substitute teach in the late 1970’s. Evelyn resided at the Luverne Veterans Home for a short time before her death. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and the church women’s group . She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Quilting, embroidery work, reading, playing card, and bingo were activities she enjoyed. Evelyn made the best fried chicken, rolls and peach pie.
She is survived by her children Garry (Anna) of Lake Benton, Robert of Lake Benton, and Roy (Dixie) of Reno, NV; Four grandchildren Rachel Rudebusch of Tyler, Jeffrey Rudebusch of Elkton, SD, and William and Gabriel Rudebusch; Siblings Donald Prosch of Lake Benton, Berniece Murray of Salt Lake City, UT, Grace (Donald) Anderson of Walnut Grove, LaVonne Bressler of Santa Clarita, CA, Wayne (Wanda) Prosch of Waterville, and Gladys (Bruce) Southward of St. Paul and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerhard “Ole” in 2008 and siblings Harold, Margie and Dorothy.
