Maxine Schroeder
Maxine Doris Schroeder, age 94, of Redwood Falls passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Redwood Area Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.
Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Interment is in Crestlawn Gardens. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Maxine Doris Schroeder was born June 28, 1917 in Vesta, MN to Arley and Merlie (Tetrick) Day. She attended Country Districts 14 and 136 through the 8th grade. On March 19, 1937 she was united in marriage to Harvey Schroeder in Morgan. The couple lived in the Bird Island area where they farmed until moving to Redwood Falls in 1944. They purchased the Silver Dime Café and operated it from 1960 through 1967 and then retired. Maxine worked at Sunwood Good Samaritan where she cooked and served as a nurse’s aide. She moved into Johnson Park Place in 2000 where she has resided since. Maxine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, participating in the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, going to garage sales and flea markets, collecting antiques, and crocheting. Maxine also loved going to the cabin at Long Lake near Spicer and entertaining there, and visiting with family and friends.
Maxine is survived by her children: Darlene (David) Pearl of Modesto, CA, Ardyth (Larry) Steinhaus of Elk River, and Allan (Pat) Schroeder of Hobbs, NM; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Mildred Schroeder of Litchfield, Leona Schroeder of Hutchinson, and Lois Schroeder of Bird Island; numerous nieces and nephews, special friend Arlene Reynolds of Redwood Falls; and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey, daughter Carol at birth, daughter Beverly Koerner on March 2, 2011, one sister, two brothers, two sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law. |
