Tawynia D. Martin age 45 of Redwood Falls and the Lower Sioux Community lost her battle with colon cancer on Friday, May 18, 2018 while surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church at the Lower Sioux Community. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church hall, with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue until the time of the service on Wednesday. Interment is in St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Tawynia was born March 7, 1973 in St. Paul, MN to Edith Martin and Darrell Nelson. She attended school at Maxfield and graduated from St. Paul Central High School. Tawynia lived in St. Paul until the early 2000’s when she moved to Morton. She also later lived at the Lower Sioux Community and in Redwood Falls. Tawynia loved spending time with her kids and taking care of her plants. She enjoyed listening to 90’s R & B music, and doing puzzles. She was a great cook, and liked watching reality tv and sports, especially the MN Vikings football games. Tawynia was loved by so many people. She was a wonderful mother, sister and aunt.
Tawynia is survived by her children: Taquez Perkins, Jaden Martin, and Kamari Banks all of the Lower Sioux; siblings: Grady Carroll, David Collins, Jeanie Hill, Chantel Martin, Devonya Martin, Colleen Collins, Nataja Nelson & Andre Nelson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her mothers Edith Martin Carroll & Lorraine Martin, father Darrell Nelson, uncle Fred Carroll, and nephews Miguel Martinez and De Montel Ward.
