LeRoy WilhelmiLeRoy J. Wilhelmi age 84 of Morgan passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at Sleepy Eye Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 13 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan.

Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary service to follow.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.  Private family burial will take place at a later time.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

LeRoy Joseph Wilhelmi was born November 21, 1927 in New Market, MN to Jerome and Rose (Zweber) Wilhelmi.  LeRoy’s father passed away when he was 2 years old.  His mother then married Louie Ricke who raised LeRoy as his own.  He attended St. Michael’s Catholic School in Morgan.  On November 15, 1945 LeRoy enlisted in the US Navy.  After he received his honorable discharge on October 9, 1947 he returned to the Morgan area.  LeRoy met Marcella Schueller and they were married on October 12, 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth.  After the wedding the couple made their home in Morgan where they have resided since.  LeRoy worked a variety of jobs, most notably at Morgan Grain & Feed and Peterson Well Drilling.  He was a member of the Morgan VFW for several years.  LeRoy enjoyed fishing, woodworking and tinkering, watching racing, and helping out in the pit crew.  He loved being outside working in the yard, riding his bike, and visiting with family and friends.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Marcella; children: James (Connie) Wilhelmi of Rice, Jerome “Jerry” (Joy) Wilhelmi of Willmar, Janice (Michael) Schilling of Woodbury, Alan (Betty) Wilhelmi of Clements, Annette (Kurt) Taber of Aurora, CO, Denis (Karen) Wilhelmi of Morgan, Charles Wilhelmi of Redwood Falls, Joseph (Cindy) Wilhelmi of New Ulm, and Martha (Dave) Widmer of Redwood Falls.   He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one on the way; brother Paul Wilhelmi of Sleepy Eye; and many other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his fathers Jerome Wilhelmi and Louie Ricke, mother Rose, brother Francis, and sister Patricia.
