William “Bill” Wood age 87 of rural Morgan passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm Monday AT THE CHURCH, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment is in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. William Wood was born March 17, 1929 in Sherman Township, near Morgan, MN to Clark & Selma (Freitag) Wood. He graduated from Morgan High School in 1947. On December 30, 1949, Bill was united in marriage to Elaine Reek at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Flora Township, Renville County. Bill started farming with his dad, and began farming the Century Farm after he was married in 1949. He also operated a livestock dealer business. After Bill retired from farming, he continued living on the farm until his death. Bill was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan. He enjoyed trapping in his younger years, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. In his later years, he began wood carving.
Bill is survived by his wife Elaine of 66 years; son Reg (Alice) Wood of Franklin; daughter Karen Doerr of Richfield; grandchildren: Chris (Jean) Wood of Franklin and Nicole Doerr (Rodrigo Molina) of Andover; great granddaughter Victoria Molina; sister Evelyn Mikes of Willmar; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Gary in 2005 and David in infancy, and his sister Janet Helmer.
I want to express my sorrow on the loss of Bill.
He was truly one of my good friends. I can not make the funeral, but will keep each and everyone of you in our prayers.
