Donna Krick
Donna Carol Krick, age 73 of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Lake Benton, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, June 18, 2012 in her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church in Lake Benton.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment is in Memorial Hill Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Tyler Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donna was born December 28, 1938, on a lakeside farm east of Lake Benton to Albert and Clara (Koehne) Petersen. She was baptized February 12, 1939 and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Donna attended Lake Benton Public School. On July 9, 1955 she was united in marriage to James Sorensen. They were blessed with two children. Donna graduated from Stewart School of Cosmetology in Sioux Falls, SD on May 29, 1971. She was one of the first business women in Lake Benton, owning her own beauty salon. Donna married Pat (Roy) Krick on June 30, 1979 at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church and welcomed Pat’s six children into her life. Donna’s salon was destroyed by fire, and she changed her career to become the administrator of the Lincoln County HRA for 18 years until her retirement. Donna was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, St. Genevieve’s CCW, former member of the Lake Benton Chamber of Commerce, mentor at LBPS, and was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. Donna was a beautiful and strong person; strong whether in fighting her failing health or her generous support and love for her family, friends and her community. She was happiest spending time with family and friends and tending to her flower gardens. She also enjoyed cooking, Christmas collectibles, antiquing, playing cards, fishing and bird watching. She moved to Boca Raton in the fall of 2009 for health reasons and became (with her dog, Shelby) a central figure at the Banyan Place independent senior community.
Donna is the loving mother of Diane (Bob) Low of Oakville, Ontario, Canada, Karen (Larry) Mergener of Marine on St. Croix, Ken (Cathi) Krick of Inver Grove Heights, Mike (Karla) Krick of Marine on St. Croix, Tim (Dawn) Krick of Henderson, NV, and Jon (Leslie) Krick of New Castle, CO, and son-in-law Bill Cheney of Sun Lake, AZ. She is the proud grandmother of Misty, Alison, Ryan, Brad, Troy, Kellin, Boe, Brenna, Joe, Keenan, Nathan, Nick, Adam, Laura, and Kara. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters: Lavonne (Lloyd) Larson of Remer and Marlys (Rudy) Imhoff of Little Fork; and brothers Bill (Dorothy) Krick of Fairmont and Art (Lorraine) Krick of Omaha. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Clara Petersen, husband Pat (Roy) Krick, son Bryan Sorensen, daughter Margo Cheney, brother Darwin Petersen, and sister Janice Johansen.
Donna will be sadly missed by her family and friends, but left us all with deeply cherished memories. May her beautiful soul rest in all the peace she so greatly deserves.
