Esther Verna Theresa Pabst
Esther Verna Theresa Pabst age 87 of rural Sanborn, formerly of Cottonwood, Marshall and Westbrook, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday AT THE CHURCH, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment is in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Esther was born September 3, 1924 in Cottonwood, MN to Henry and Minnie (Hundt) Housman. She attended country school near Cottonwood, and later attended Marshall High School. On May 28, 1943 Esther was united in marriage to Albert Pabst at the Lutheran parsonage in Marshall, Minnesota. They spent the first years of their marriage farming and husking corn by hand. Esther was named the National Corn Husking Champion in the early 1980’s. Together the couple farmed for over 60 years. Esther was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and Friends of Gilfillan. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hand corn husking.
Esther is survived by her children: Miles (Sharon) Pabst of Norman, OK, Brian Pabst, Roxanna (Edward) Cohrs, & Ralph (Karen) Pabst, all of Sanborn, and Pauline (Shawn) Wohnoutka of Morgan, MN; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Albert; brothers: Charlie, John, & Henry Housman; sisters: Sophie, Helen, Mary, & Irene; and daughters-in-law Sandra Pabst and Cheryl Pabst.
