Alice L. Hanson age 76 of Walnut Grove passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 with her daughter at her side at Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 22 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Walnut Grove.
Visitation is 4:30-7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Alice L. Hanson was born September 13, 1936 in Lyon County to Maurice C. and Irene C. (Mortier) Maeyaert. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1954. She then moved to Walnut Grove where she met Clair J. Hanson. They were married on February 2, 1959. Alice enjoyed quilting; she made a quilt for each of her grandchildren as they graduated from high school. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, and collecting dolls, angels, and salt & pepper shakers. She spent time doing crossword puzzles and loved watching tennis and the Minnesota Twins. Alice loved hearing about her grandkids’ activities, and was always interested in what everyone was doing. Alice was a quiet, gentle, and caring person.
Alice is survived by her husband Clair of Walnut Grove; children: Joseph Hanson of Walnut Grove, Julie (Ray) Jenniges of Ellsworth, WI, Karla (Steve) Hay of Walnut Grove, Steven (Dawn) Hanson of Walnut Grove, James (Gail) Hanson of Redwood Falls, and Wayne (Michelle) Hanson of Willmar; grandchildren: Danielle (Alan) Onken, Adam and Zachary Jenniges, Tristan (Patricia) Hay, Ashley (Brandon) Clarke, Samantha Hay, Nicole Strong, and Shawn, Stacy, Austyn, Garett, Courtney, Cassidy, and Kendall Hanson; and great grandchildren Jacob, Hayley, and Allison Clarke. She is also survived by her siblings: Raymond (Beatrice) Maeyaert of Walnut Grove, Edward (Sandi) Maeyaert of Lengby, MN, and Theresa Hochstatter of Rush City, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert, sisters Helen Maeyaert and Mary Nuyttens, and brother-in-law Harry Nuyttens.
