Arthur “Art” Busswitz

Arthur “Art” Busswitz age 85 of Westbrook passed away Thursday, December 23 at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 27 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray.  Visitation is 9:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the church.  Interment will be in Westbrook Cemetery at a later date.  The Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Art Busswitz was born April 12, 1925 in Dovray Township, Minnesota to Leander and Christine (Cohrs) Busswitz.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Art attended country school District 105.  He joined the Army and served in Hawaii, the Philippines, and Japan during WW II.  After returning home from overseas, Art was united in marriage to Betty Olson on March 10, 1948 in Wells, MN.  Together the couple lived in Westbrook, and then moved to a farm near Dovray.  Art ran a tiling and corn shelling business with his brother Luverne, and was a dairy farmer for the rest of his working years.  Art always enjoyed helping area farmers.  Betty passed away in 1990, and Art continued living on the farm for several years until moving to Tracy where he resided until July 2010 when he entered the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.  Art was a member of the Dovray Legion and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  He liked having friends and family around and always loved visiting with them. 

Art Busswitz is survived by his children: Marilyn (Loren) Vosberg of Winnebago, MN, Lee (Vicki) Busswitz of Westbrook, and Lanae Horner of Tracy; grandchildren: Malinda Busswitz, Crystal Vosberg, Loren Vosberg Jr., Leonard Busswitz, Connie Busswitz, Mark Busswitz, Lacey Busswitz, Tessa Busswitz, and Carrie Horner ; great grandchildren: Leah Evers, Kelsey Ladd, and Finn Nelson; and sisters: LeAnn (Robert) Krueger of Isle, MN and Carolyn (Roger) Benson of Westbrook.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, brothers Luverne, Marvin, Elwood, and Arlen, and sister Doris.
