Daryl Myron Swenhaugen, age 69 of rural Westbrook, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in his home while surrounded by his loving family after losing his battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, May 21 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church south of Walnut Grove. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Friday at the Westbrook Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment is in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery. Daryl Myron Swenhaugen was born August 12, 1946 in Tracy, Minnesota to Myron and Mary (Atkins) Swenhaugen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Daryl was united in marriage to LaCinda Lou Johnson on February 12, 1972 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. They made their home on the family farm in Murray County raising livestock and crop farming. They later moved their family to Cottonwood County and continued crop farming. Daryl enjoyed farming, working on his farm equipment, and collecting IH tractors. He also enjoyed fishing, his pets, his family, and socializing with friends.
Daryl is survived by his wife LaCinda of 44 years; three children: Duane (Janel) Swenhaugen, LuAnn (Chad) Cooley, and Paul Swenhaugen (fiancée Carol Stern); four grandchildren: Lisa, Lance, Skyler, and Ethan; step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Myron and Mary, his in-laws Harold and Mary Lou Johnson, and several aunts and uncles.
