Harold Fremont Brown age 91 of Lake Benton passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Sunrise Manor in Tyler.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 1 at the United Methodist Church in Lake Benton.

Visitation is our hour prior to services.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tyler Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Harold Fremont Brown was born November 4, 1921 in Clear Lake, South Dakota.  On March 20, 1942 he was united in marriage to Marion Graham in Brookings, SD.  For eight years Harold and Marian farmed south of Clear Lake.  In 1950 they moved to the town of Clear Lake where Harold worked for International Harvester.  In 1956 Harold and Marian purchased a flower shop and greenhouse in Winnebago, MN that they ran until coming to Lake Benton in 1974.  In Lake Benton, they built and ran the Lake Benton Valley Greenhouse until 1990.  Harold was a member of the United Methodist Church and directed choirs for over 50 years.  His love of music was immense.  For many years he sang in a quartet that performed many times in the Lake Benton area.  His many hobbies included hunting, fishing, singing, gardening, golfing, bowling, and enjoying every moment of life.  Harold was a very active member in Kiwanis and then the Lions Clubs.  He spent many hours volunteering at the Lake Benton Opera House and the Lake Benton schools.  His love of young people was always evident.

Harold is survived by all of those who knew and loved him.  He is preceded in death by his parents and  wife Marian.
