Helen Bjornebo Reishus age 98 of Granite Falls, formerly of Cottonwood, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at Granite Falls Manor.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 24 at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.  Burial is in Christ Lutheran Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Helen Bjornebo Reishus was born February 10, 1915 in Cottonwood, Minnesota to Krog and Charlotte (Troseth) Bjornebo.  She was baptized at home and confirmed at English Lutheran Church in Cottonwood.  Helen attended country school District 62 and graduated from Cottonwood Public School in 1934.  Helen left home at the age of 12 and worked throughout high school.  On March 28, 1936 she married Theron Lysander Reishus at the church parsonage in Belview.  The couple settled on a farm south of Cottonwood.  During the winters she lived and worked in California while her husband trucked.  During her later years Helen wintered in Tucson, AZ.  They moved into Cottonwood in 1985.  Theron died in January, 1994.  On July 1, 1998 Helen moved into Fieldcrest in Cottonwood, and on March 29, 2006 she moved to the Granite Falls Manor.  Helen was active in WELCA at Christ Lutheran Church.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a sewing club.  In her younger years Helen square danced all over the area.  She enjoyed crocheting and sewing clothes for all her children and grandchildren.  Helen loved doing crafts and playing cards.

Helen is survived by her children: Margaret (Paul) Lund of Cottonwood, Richard (Joan) Reishus of Springdale, AR, Charlotte (Glen) Morse of Lincoln, CA, and Janis (Darrell) Fong of Boise, ID; daughter-in-law Barbara Reishus of Buffalo; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; siblings: Morris (Phyllis) Bjornebo of Woodbury, Arvilla Berg of Cottonwood, and Yvonne (Murl) Johnson of Cottonwood; God-child Tamara Visker of Coon Rapids; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Theron, son Wesley Reishus, sister Hjordis, brothers Fridtjof, Harold, Edwin, Arvid, Leif, and Kenneth, and grandson-in-law Gerald Slosar.
