Jeane was born to Harley and Helen (Peterson) Hollingsworth on May 3, 1935 along with triplet sisters Joyce and Joane in the Slayton Hospital. Jeane grew up on a farm and attended school in Holly Township, graduating from Walnut Grove High School in 1953. Following high school, she worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone and taught piano and accordion lessons to local students. On April 4, 1964 Jeane was united in marriage to Paul W. Carter at Holly Methodist Church. Together they farmed south of Walnut Grove until Paul’s death in 1992. Jeane continued to live on the farm until moving to Country View Assisted Living in June 2005. She moved from there to Prairie View Nursing Home in June 2012. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as LCW President and a Sunday School teacher. Jeane was involved in Walnut Grove Keenagers, Neighborhood Birthday Club, Holly Extension Club, and Card Club. She was a member of the Walnut Grove bowling league and enjoyed Wii bowling after she retired her ball and shoes. Jeane enjoyed gardening, quilting, and playing games, cards, and Bingo. She also loved traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. Jeane was very kind and gentle; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others.
Jeane is survived by her three children: Patricia (David) LeClaire of Currie, Craig (Linda) Carter of Walnut Grove, and Sandra (Robert) Wenszell of Rochester; eight grandchildren: Adam (Chrissy), Paul, Katlin, and Justin LeClaire; Colton and Leah Carter; and Carter and Isaac Wenszell; two great-granddaughters Karsynn and Charlee LeClaire; three step-great-grandchildren: Jocy, Kaylan, and Jett Glenn; two sisters Ludema Kassel and Joyce (Stanley) Severson; and sisters-in-law Janice Carter, Helen A. My sister Dianna Meld and I send our Deepest Sympathy. Jeane was a dear lady and we always enjoyed visiting with her. I’m sure our Mother Shirley Lorenz has had a card game with her in Heaven. May God hold you all in his arms at this difficult time. God Bless, Sandy Johnson and Dianna Meld
Please know that I am keeping your family in my prayers. I am Robert and Donna Struchen’s daughter who knew so many of your family. My sister,Connie Gribbin, loved caring for Jeane at Prairieview. They sang Amazing Grace while going through bedtime routine. God bless Jeane’s memory. Bev Werder
Prayers go out to you Sandy, Patty, and especially you Craig and your families. Your Mom was a sweet lady that was always smiling and never letting her health condition get the most of her. It is so hard to lose someone we love and to see time passing us by. As your classmate Craig, and friend, my sincere sympathies go out to you and all those that loved your Mom dearly. My the good memories stay with you and remind you always what a special Mom you had.

Jeane will be dearly missed by all of us at Prairie View. She truly was one of the most gracious beautiful ladies I had the pleasure to know. I am glad my “Jeane Jeane the Beauty Queen” is no longer in pain and has a perfect new body to enjoy in heaven. Heaven definitely has gained an angel. May your memories of this lovely lady bring you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
Jeane was such a dear friend to my mother, Gloria Jacobs. Always enjoyed chatting with her when I would come to see Mom at Country View and at Prairie View. We shared many meals in the dining hall. I know she will be greeted with open arms by Mom in heaven and they will have a game of bowling. She lived life with such dignity and grace – never complaining. Now she will have a new body and be freed from the tremors that bound her. My sincere condolences to her family in the loss of your loved one.
To my cousins Patty, Craig & Sandy.
Your Mom, my Aunt Jeane, smiled every day of her life in spite of the hard road she traveled after the loss of her husband Paul, sister Joane and brothers Leonard, Chet and Vern. We will miss her terribly but know that she has found peace now with her family members that went before her.
