David “Butch” Jensen
David “Butch” Jensen age 64 of Belview, passed away Friday, May 04, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday May 8 at Rock Valle Lutheran Church, rural Echo.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:30 p.m. Monday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Interment is in the Belview Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
David “Butch” Raymond Jensen was born October 15, 1947 in Marshall, Minnesota to Raymond and Marvel (Larsen) Jensen. He attended Echo Public School, graduating in 1966. After graduation, Dave worked and helped farm for Jim Holt of Belview, and occasionally helped John Larsen at Echo Granite Works. Dave enlisted in the United States Air Force in October of 1966 and served until he was honorably discharged in October of 1970. He then joined the Air Force Reserves and served until October of 1972. Dave was united in marriage to Gale Hoppenrath on June 14, 1975 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Belview. Following his discharge from the Air Force, Dave went to work for Anderson Electric of Belview, and later worked for Belview Public School and Echo Public School for a period of 10 years. He returned to work at Anderson Electric, which later became Farmers Co-op Electric of Belview, until his retirement in October of 2010. Dave was a member of the Belview Legion Post 309 and served as Commander of the post and also served one year as the Redwood County Commander. He was a member of Rock Valle Lutheran Church, and a retired member of the Belview Fire Department. Dave enjoyed throwing darts, shooting pool, and playing cards. He also loved arm wrestling, gardening, driving his golf carts, and spending time at his camper on Lake Shetek. He loved making and sharing his “Homemade Kraut,” and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends. Dave treasured his very special time as a child with his Grandpa Hans.
Dave is survived by his wife Gale; children: Kimberly (Lou) Hagen of Wood Lake, Shane (Eric Struba) Jensen of Abingdon, MD, Kristin (Tony O’Donnell) Jensen of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Daniel Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Madisyn Skatvold, Rachelle Hagen, Jessica Girard, Dustin Hagen, and Sean Hagen; great-grandchildren Taylor and Cody Himley, and Devon Girard. He is also survived by his brother Dennis Jensen of Echo; and sisters: Vickie (Dennis) Welter of Shakopee, MN, and Diana (Rich) Connelly of Reno, NV. He is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Marvel. |
