Grace Lothert
Grace Lothert age 91 of Red Wing, formerly Morton, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Potter Ridge Assisted Living community in Red Wing.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Morton.
Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment is in Morton Cemetery. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Grace Ida Bartz was born in Renville County, Minnesota on November 8, 1919 to William and Leona Bartz. She attended country school until 8th grade. On August 29, 1941 Grace married Harvey Lothert in Redwood Falls. They farmed together in the Morton area until 1955 when they moved to rural Franklin to farm. In 1975 they retired from farming and moved to Morton. Grace worked part-time in the Morton School cafeteria for a few years until the school closed. She was an active member of the Morton Senior Center where she enjoyed helping with the meals and also enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Grace was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morton.
Grace Lothert is survived by one daughter Pamela (Mark) Machtemes of Red Wing; three grandchildren: Torry (Jamie) Machtemes of Shakopee, Lacey (Jeremiah) Bien of Goodhue, and Nealy (fiancé Aaron Plumley) Machtemes of Red Wing; and 7 great-grandchildren: Alissa Bien, Xerxes Machtemes, Jocelyn Machtemes, Alex Bien, Jeremiah Bien Jr., Seager Machtemes and Phoenix Machtemes; sister Marilyn Vogl; sisters-in-law: Margaret Bartz, Ruth Bartz, and Rosella Mude; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Harvey, parents, brothers Robert, Arnold, and Donald, sisters Rose Marie and Mildred, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
