Audrey Jane Clayton, age 83 of Westbrook, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Sanford Westbrook Hospital.  Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Westbrook Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Slayton Memorial Garden. 

Audrey Jane (Peterson) Clayton was born December 11, 1938 to Arthur H. and Ella S. (Hunteman) Peterson in Leeds Township, Murray County, Minnesota.  She attended country school and later graduated from Westbrook High School.  On August 11, 1959, Audrey married the love of her life, Marvin Clayton, in Slayton.  The couple moved various places while Marvin was in the U.S. Air Force, including England and Florida. They eventually made their home on Audrey’s family farm near Westbrook where they raised their family.  Audrey enjoyed life on the farm, helping out and raising the animals. She especially loved horses; she rode her whole life, and loved going on trail rides.  Audrey was involved in many community groups, was very social, and invested in the people of her community.  To pass the time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and making beaded jewelry.  Audrey loved to listen to the Beatles and Elvis, and she even toured Graceland.  Most of all, her greatest treasures were her grandkids and great grandkids.

Audrey is survived by her daughters: Sherilyn (Jerry) England of Gillette, WY, Diane (Norman) Ward of Lexington, KY & Linda (John) Clayton-Behr of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Shane Stefanick of Wyoming, Casey, Jace & Hannah Ward all of Kentucky, Ella Ebner of Minneapolis and Francesca & Jonea Behr of Minneapolis; five great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Betty Jensen.
