Claire Estelle (Flory) Vickerman was born February 26, 1939 to Louis A. and Cordelia (Perrin) Flory in Sanford, Maine. She attended parochial school. After graduation, Claire attended a business school for office work. Around that time, she went to Tracy, Minnesota to visit her sister, Gloria, who was living on a farm south of Tracy. Claire met her future husband, John Vickerman, while she was there visiting. On November 11, 1957, Claire married John on his parents’ farm, where they made their home and raised five children. In the mid 1980’s, she invited Jesus into her life and became a true believer. Claire was active in the Methodist church, always assisting their children to be active as well. Claire became the church’s secretary/office manager and filled that role for many years. For some time, she was secretary for the local United Methodist Women and also for the District United Methodist Women. Claire went as a delegate to UMW programs to bring back new ideas to the local church. She led bible studies and was a prayer warrior with a regular prayer group. Claire enjoyed working in her garden from which she froze and canned a lot of produce each year. She even experimented with making pickles and ketchup from her garden. Claire spent some time mowing the yard and trying to beautify the landscape around the house. She also took on a huge project of redoing all the woodwork inside of that big farmhouse.

Claire is survived by her five children: Donna (Brian) Flesner of Bixby, OK; Tim (Deb) of Lafayette, IN; Kevin (Michelle) of Tracy; Jon of Tracy; & Corey (Kelly) of Westbrook; eight grandchildren: Nathan & Sam Flesner, Nikki Jost, Taylor, Tammy, Tiffany & Tasha Vickerman, and Ashlee (Johnson) Moseskau; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Edgar Flory of Grand Junction, CO; one sister, Gloria Flory of Converse, TX; and nieces, nephews and friends. Claire was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, two sisters, Anita Ouellette & Louise Picard, and two brothers, Wilfred & Paul Flory, and one grandson, Michael Lee.
