Dale George Cech, age 89, of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local food bank.
Dale George Cech was born February 4, 1937, to George and Maida (Neumann) Cech on the farm in Lac Que Parle County, Minnesota. Dale graduated from Canby High School in 1955. He then continued his education at South Dakota State, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy. Dale and Veronica Irene Bertsch were united in marriage on July 10, 1965 in Moorhead, MN and the two spent 61 wonderful years together. He served in the U.S. Army as an ROTC Infantry Officer from 1959-1968, continuing his devotion on the Redwood Legion. While serving his military service he was airborne qualified, attended Ranger training, and then became an Army Aviator. While in the 82nd Airborne Division, Dale completed over 1,000 hours of pilot time in the HUEY. Dale left active-duty September 30, 1962, with an honorable discharge as a Captain in 1968. He worked as a Fertilizer Plant Manager for both the Farmers Co-op in Canby, MN and the Red River Grain Company in Fargo, ND. Dale also spent 16 years in sales with Midland Cooperative; eight years in Wisconsin and eight years in Redwood Falls. He was employee #14 with Keltgen Seed Company when he started in 1981, which later became Mycogen Seed Company; a division of DowAgro Science. Dale retired in 2000 and continued working part-time for Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in the Tour and Travel department. He was a member of the Redwood Falls Travelers Club and a Redwood County board member for the Redwood Area Food Shelf, where he would spend time volunteering. Dale found joy in traveling and camping; he and Veronica visited all 50 states. He loved trees and helped plant over 1,000 trees on his property. Dale also enjoyed reading, gardening, and yardwork.
Dale is survived by his wife, Veronica; children: James (Emma) Cech of Prague, Jerome (Brandi Helms) Cech of Arvada, CO, and Jeffery Cech of Longmont, CO; grandchildren: Colin, Rowan (Christian Robey) & Maya Cech; great-grandchild, James Finn Robey; sister, Ardis Stratton; and brother-in-law, Merlyn Christiansen. He is preceded by his parents; sister, Lois Christiansen; and brother-in-law, Marvin Stratton.
