Dale Walter Mandelkow, age 71, of rural Belview, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 in the comfort of his own home. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Dale Walter Mandelkow was born on July 15, 1955 to Walter and Mabel (Warner) Mandelkow in Marshall, MN. He was a lifetime member at St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He graduated from Belview High School in 1973. Dale started farming his senior year in high school and raised cattle with his dad for many years. On April 21, 1979, Dale married Jan Hinz in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, MN, and from this marriage were blessed with four children. Dale’s wish came true, because he always wanted to be able to farm and raise cattle with his two sons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and going for ranger rides while checking the crops and cattle. Dale’s favorite activity was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren; he loved when everybody came HOME.
Dale is survived by his wife, Jan of 47 years; children: Scott (Sue) Mandelkow of Echo, Chad (Nora) Mandelkow of Belview, and surprise twins, Kelly (Derick) Douvier of Glenwood & Kris (Nick) Pooch of Farwell; grandchildren: Harley (special friend Dominic), Lexi, Otis, & Leah Mandelkow, Dawson Dale Douvier, Blake, Brady, Blaine, & Abbie Pooch; sister, Cheryl (Bruce) Anderson; brothers-in-law, Richard VanEps, and Steve (Mary) Iverson; in-laws: Teresa & Mike Hoepner, Tom & Pat Hinz, Tim & Carrie Hinz, and Trudy & Craig Hartman, Jill & Ron Ginter, and Jack & Linda Hinz; and many other relatives and friends. Dale is preceded by his parents, Walter & Mabel Mandelkow; sisters: Joyce VanEps and Janice Iverson; in-laws, Pete & Betty Hinz; and his nephew, Nicholas VanEps.
